Thought this was a piece of important recent history I should know about and learn from, and also might make an interesting case study for the motivations of a villain.
Slow-going for those, like me, without any prior knowledge, but soon becomes quite gripping.

Review
I've stopped reading this book because it is too long, and I only wanted an overview of Pol Pot's life and what lead to the horrifying events in Cambodia. It was a little like diving into the deep end, and I don't have enough time to read that much material at the moment. What I did read of the book was interesting and well-written.
